Our Two Hydra-Test valve body testing machines are both computer controlled, which is a must for today's electronically operated transmissions. One of the special features of this system is the ability to run a fully automated shift sequence. We can set the shift pattern by spacing the shift timing and setting the amount of times the shift sequence will cycle, all at the click of a mouse. The valve body will then cycle up and the down through all gears, including TCC lock-up. This Automated sequence can be set from 1 to 100 times, this is especially useful when trying to find a fault that only occurs on the vehicle after the valve body and solenoids have been run for a period of time. The system can extensively test PWM (pulse with modulation) solenoids, these are usually Pressure Regulator or TCC Lock-up, although PWM solenoids are being used more frequently in smoothing shift control. A duty cycle ramp bar on the screen shows the effect of this type of solenoid when energized. Solenoids can be individually selected to assess correct function, I.e. Current draw or resistance. They can also be automatically tested for a pass/fail condition. The second Hydra-Test has a data acquisition system. This is done with the attachment of pressure transducers coupled to the gauge lines, and then the electronic wires attached to the control board. Live data is collected on each valve body tested and stored for reference and for intrest should our customers wish to view the results.
